50 Schneider iPro Lens Systems to Capture iPhone Movies at Macworld/iWorld

(Virtual Press Office) -The producers behind IDG World Expo and Macworld/iWorld are taking making movies to a different level. This year’s Expo will feature an iPhone Film Festival, a showcase of movies made entirely on iPhones and iShotThat! — A Crowd Sourced Film shot and edited during the few days of the Expo. Fifty filmmakers involved in this event will be shooting with Schneider Optics new iPro Lens Systems.

“We’re excited about supplying Macworld/iWorld filmmakers with the iPro Lens Systems,” says Bill Turner, Senior Vice President of Schneider Optics, the innovator behind these lenses. “Today for a growing number of people, the iPhone is the always-with-them-camera,” says Turner. “It’s fun to capture footage with these higher resolution iPhone cameras but somewhat limiting. Not any more. With the iPro Lens System, home movies, documentary productions, location scouting and other uses take on a whole new dimension and make the camera a more useful tool.”

The system is convenient because it can be carried anywhere. The two lenses nest in a case that doubles as a handle. The handle helps stabilize the iPhone and protect the lenses. It even has a ¼-20 screw adapter to mount on a tripod or monopod for additional stability. The Wide Angle lens twists on to increase the iPhone’s field-of-view by 35 percent with low distortion and edge-to-edge sharpness. For a super-wide, distorted effect, the Fisheye lens alters the field-of-view by a dramatic 165 degrees.

“Collaborative content is a hot area today,” explains John Turner, Chief Technologist for Assitronics, who will be a featured Tech Talks speaker at the show. “iOS devices record great video. We are going to ask attendees to capture what it is to be at Macworld/iWorld during the first few days and submit that footage online. A small team of editors will work hard to edit the footage into a short film that will be released near the end of the event.”

The iPhone Film Event will be part of this year’s traditional Macworld/iWorld programs. Macworld/iWorld will take place January 26 through the 28, 2012 at Moscone Center – West Hall in San Francisco.
