Founder Angela Rose White at Midem 2013 Seeking Distribution for Various Works

LOS ANGELES (January 26, 2013) --- (Virtual Press Office) -- DaBet Music Services, which opened its doors in January 2009, has a refined mission and new business address effective immediately, according to company president and founder Angela Rose White, daughter of the late award-winning composer David Rose.

DaBet Music Services now will serve primarily as a consulting company that provides organization and basic evaluation of music catalogues, copyrights, income streams and management for music catalogs, focusing its publishing and administration services on existing clients such as Shakim Williams, Paul Casey, Martha Robi Publishing and Franchesca Robi (Gilchriese).

White decided to change her company’s focus after frequently discovering that songwriters/publishers or their heirs and representatives were not aware of the fundamental rights related to song ownership and copyrights.

“Catalogs with a long history have particularly special needs because of the time that has passed and the unavailability of contracts,” explains White, who has returned to Cannes, France for Midem 2013 (Jan. 26-29) to represent her Los Angeles-based companies. “This requires time and research, followed by a method of organization and maintenance. We are all passionate about music and copyright and find that the most fulfilling aspect is searching and solving.

“We think of ourselves as ‘music detectives’ who research titles, sources of royalties, historical trails for music copyrights, and past and current activity (licensing),” adds White, who also has served as chief operating officer of the independent David Rose Publishing Company since 1996.

Current Projects

One of DaBet’s current projects involves co-executive producing the debut album of Franchesca Robi, daughter of the late Paul Robi, an original member of The Platters that hailed as one of the most successful music groups of the 1950s rock ‘n’ roll era. Her album, titled “Remembering The Platters: Songs of My Father,” features several of the group’s No. 1 hits including “Only You,” "The Great Pretender,” “Smoke Gets in your Eyes,” “My Prayer” and “(You’ve Got) The Magic Touch.” The album was released digitally in late 2012 via BFM Digital.

“We’re here at Midem seeking distributors worldwide for Franchesca Robi’s new album,” says White. “As the daughter of one of the original members of The Platters, her great voice and experience singing with one of The Platters’ performing groups has great appeal to the fans of that music genre.”

White also is seeking options for additional exposure for another of DaBet Music’s artists – Irish singer songwriter Paul Casey, a native of Derry County, Northern Ireland, a veteran performer in past Midem showcases.

Casey has released a new album, “Big World,” via Right Track Distribution, a distribution deal that resulted from last year’s Midem. Casey’s album currently can be heard on British Airways International flights, having recently been selected for the Highlife Entertainment in-flight channel along with such greats as George Benson and Tony Bennett. Singles from the album, including “Big World,” “Now It's Done” and “Frontlines,” also are receiving extensive radio play throughout Europe.

Casey recently headlined “Home Grown 2013” with Bronagh Gallagher, and Paddy Nash and The Happy Enchiladas at The Millennium Forum in Derry, kicking off the Derry-Londonderry year at the City of Culture 2013 celebration. He also has been performing with Nice's local group The Low Budget Men and will return to Nice in June. Casey was recently nominated as “Best New Artist” under the AC/Hot AC category for New Music Weekly’s “2013 New Music Awards.”

Another DaBet artist, Shakim Williams, also is making news according to White. He continues to host a show on titled “The Shock Factor,” airing at 8 p.m. PST every Friday. The show seeks to raise awareness and to build bridges of understanding on a variety of topics, and serves as a platform for established and emerging artists worldwide. Shakim also wrote and produced songs for the forthcoming album from R&B artist, Truth Hurts.

New Location For DaBet Music Services

In addition to DaBet’s new mission and work with current artists, the Los Angeles-based boutique company has moved its business office location to The Terraces, 12711 Ventura Blvd., Suite 217, Studio City, CA 91604 USA, sharing the address with David Rose Publishing Co.

David Rose Publishing Company

Before founding DaBet, White took over responsibility for David Rose Publishing Co. (DRP) activities after spending 25 years working in law firms engaged in business and entertainment law, including the area of music. DRP continues to represent the catalog of the late David Rose, award-winning composer and conductor, who wrote such famous works as “Holiday for Strings,” “The Stripper,” “Our Waltz,” “California Melodies” and “The Christmas Tree.”

As COO of DRP, White has handled all aspects of DRP publishing, including royalty analysis, collections, licensing, and communication with licensees, publishers, subpublishers, and co-administrators both in and outside the U.S. Revenue is derived from films and television shows which has resulted in an experienced staff familiar with TV cues, themes, etc., and collection by the Performing Rights Societies both inside and outside the U.S. To date, White presides over a DRP catalog which contains more than 500 copyrights.

While in Midem, White also is seeking distribution of DRP’s centennial recording, containing such David Rose greats as "The Stripper," "Holiday for Strings," "Little House on the Prairie" and "Nostalgia." She also announced that DRP’s famed "The Stripper" is being licensed for the upcoming stage show of the film, “The Full Monty.”
