Sesame Workshop VP Added to Roster of Speakers at TIA's Content Connection

January 29, 2013 | (Virtual Press Office) -- The NPD Group recently reported that licenses continue to be a key driver for the toy industry, accounting for 30% of total industry sales in 2012. As thousands of new licensed toys based on apps, characters, celebrities or properties are launched each year, the 110th American International Toy Fair is inviting licensors, brand owners and entertainment executives who annually flock to the show to participate in TIA's Content Connection – a rich educational program scheduled to take place during the first two days of Toy Fair.

Ann Kearns, Vice President of Licensing at Sesame Workshop has recently been added to the Content Connection roster of speakers who will deliver an informative, interactive and research-driven program.  Speaking on a panel entitled "Lessons in Licensing," Ms. Kearns will share her vast knowledge about the field, including business practices and royalty benchmarks to jump-start attendees' licensing education. An industry veteran who is responsible for developing and managing the licensing categories of toys and several other product types, Ms. Kearns works with Hasbro, Disguise/Jakks, Gund, Spinmaster, Sea World & Busch Gardens parks, and more.

Additional speakers who have recently joined the program include Susan Miller, Founding Partner, Cupcake Digital, Mixed Media Group & Bolder Media, who will speak in a session called "Growing the Preschool Market" that will tackle apps-usage among preschoolers; and James Slifer, SVP, The Joester Loria Group, who will partake in a panel called "Hiring a Licensing Agent or Consultant."

Other topics to be covered include opportunities for traditional and e-enhanced toy manufacturers and designers; demographic trends; and media use and retail infrastructure in youth markets around the world. The program is produced in association with EPM Communications, publishers of The Licensing Letter and Youth Markets Alert, and JC Inc.  The full schedule of seminars can be viewed online.

TIA's Content Connection will take place February 10-11, 2013 at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. To learn about Toy Fair's various educational offerings, visit the Education section of ToyFairNY.com.
