More savings, more certainty, better value –
Pick Everard's perspective on the future of the UK Public Sector estate

(Virtual Press Office) -- National, independent multi-disciplinary consultancy practice Pick Everard is heading for the leading global property event, MIPIM to demonstrate how using procurement frameworks can help to get public sector projects moving in the UK, to create jobs and sustain local economies.

Pick Everard Partners attending MIPIM 2013 are Duncan Green, Alastair Hamilton and Joanna Griffin Shaw.

Partner Duncan Green explains, "The public sector is facing an unprecedented challenge. There's a need to cut costs dramatically; in real terms that means rationalising the public sector estate and realising best value from assets. We now need effective and transparent public and private sector partnerships that will bring forward the best opportunities."

Duncan Green's view is that with an economic outlook that's flat-lining, public sector organisations across the UK and in Europe will demand cost certainty in the future in order to secure the best value from the public purse. MIPIM is therefore the ideal forum for Pick Everard to meet national and international property and construction professionals from both private and public sectors and share knowledge and best practice.

"The most successful projects combine design excellence and efficient cost management. Being on major national UK consultancy frameworks, including Government Procurement Service, the NHS Shared Business Services framework and Scape's Project and Cost Management Framework, we can help by offering flexibility and a wide choice of procurement routes. Public sector estates professionals can quickly access a comprehensive range of services including architecture, engineering, quantity surveying, project and cost management services. And with our procurement experience, we provide a consistent and a fast response."

Pick Everard's project history in design and construction spans education, police and emergency services, custodial, health, housing and leisure:

• The UK's largest public funded prison project, the £150million, self-sufficient HMP Oakwood prison development of seventeen buildings within a secure boundary
• One of the most innovative developments undertaken by an FE college in the UK, a six-year, £85million, two-site development at Northampton College completed in December 2012
• A flagship £9.5million Criminal Justice Centre project for Northamptonshire Police, a £17million 1970's office refurbishment programme for the Metropolitan Police, part of a wider estate rationalisation programme, targeted to realise a carbon footprint reduction of 65% and new custody centres with offices for South Wales Police
• Over 50 health projects delivered in acute, mental health and primary care settings in NHS Trusts since 2000, including work on the new St Luke's Hospital to be built in Market Harborough.

Duncan Green adds, "Pick Everard has a very strong history of working proactively with the public sector, particularly with local authorities and NHS trusts and we share their commitment to working closely with local supply chain partners and suppliers. "

The firm has recently reached a £100m project value milestone for cost consultancy services in the public sector through the national Scape framework.

Chair of the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership Andrew Bacon added, "MIPIM presents a real and viable forum for us to really sell our assets. Combining public and private sector resources at the world's leading property fair gives us greater strength to market our opportunities to potential investors, leading to subsequent economic growth."
