Strategic Moves Come on Heels of Significant Distribution and Production Growth for
Multiplatform Media Company as Part of Its Five-Year Expansion Mandate
NEW YORK, APRIL 3, 2013 ― (Virtual Press Office) -- Veria Living (www.veria.com), the global multiplatform, healthy lifestyle and wellness media company, has made a pair of related strategic senior executive moves as part of its ongoing five-year worldwide expansion mandate.
- Veria Living Network has increased its U.S. distribution by nearly 50% during the past 12 months via new agreements with Cablevision, RCN, GCI and its recent premiere in the Chicago DMA.
- Internationally, through branded programming block deals in Australia , Singapore and Mexico, Veria Living Worldwide has launched the Veria Living Fitness (early morning) and Veria Healthy Lifestyle & Cooking (mid-morning) blocks which are stripped Monday-Friday.
- Veria Living Studios in New York City has produced 300-plus hours of original series with the majority focusing on fitness and healthy cooking programming.
Additionally, the Veria Living network last month kicked off its first ever national consumer marketing campaign – Random Acts of Wellness – supported by $1.5 million (U.S.). The campaign began February in New York with appearances by the star of Rock Your Yoga, Sadie Nardini, as well as a Women of Wellness team at a local shopping mall, encouraging people to make healthier lifestyle decisions. The marketing push – timed to the Cablevision system launch – also featured a series of six tongue-in-cheek advertisements covering health and wellness themes.
Raymond Donahue, who most recently served as SVP of Programming Sales for Veria Living Worldwide, is being promoted to Chief Revenue Officer. Mr. Donahue, who will continue to be based in the company's New York-headquarters, will have oversight of revenue-generating units including advertising sales, programming sales and new business development on a global basis across all media platforms. He will also be responsible for corporate strategic and operational functions of senior management.
Mr. Donahue, in his previous role with the company, launched the international division; built its sales team; nurtured new relationships with broadcasters throughout Europe, Asia, Canada and Latin America; and orchestrated the company's first branded, original programming block agreements. Mr. Donahue has over 20 years of experience in developing sales and marketing strategies and directing a global staff of sales representatives. Prior to joining Veria Living and sister company Zee TV USA Ltd., he held senior positions with international media companies including Destiny Entertainment, Momentum Distribution, Westinghouse Broadcasting International, Ultracom Entertainment and New World Entertainment.

Jennifer Liang has joined Veria Living Worldwide as Head of Global Content Sales and Strategy. In this role she will take on the international activities that were previously under Mr. Donahue's purview. Ms. Liang has over 20 years of experience in worldwide program sales, international strategy, and brand and franchise management. She also has an extensive background managing business in international markets and working in multicultural environments.
Ms. Liang will be based at the company's New York headquarters and will report directly to Mr. Donahue who remarked, "With Jennifer coming aboard we have a great opportunity to continue our growth in the international health and wellness media space. Her track record in developing and closing new sales opportunities for prominent television networks is well documented."
Prior to joining Veria Living Worldwide, Ms. Liang served as Senior Director, Worldwide Sales and Strategy, at National Geographic. In this position, she was responsible for negotiating distribution, co-production, acquisition and agency agreements for National Geographic Kids programming. She managed sales and co-production partners in the United States, Canada, France, Latin America, Asia and other major markets.
Before that, Ms. Liang was the Vice President, Worldwide Sales, for HandMade Kids, where she drafted contract templates, negotiated agreements, managed agents, prepared sales projections and implemented general worldwide sales strategy in major territories worldwide. She has also held positions as Director, Worldwide Sales, for HBO Enterprises and Director, International Program Enterprises, for MTV Networks. Ms. Liang got her start in the television industry as a sales executive for Reiner Moritz Associates, a London-based distributor of arts programming.
These strategic executive appointments come on the heels of the company's earlier announcement about the creation of a $250 million (U.S.) content development, production, co-production and acquisition fund for Veria Living to utilize with regards to health and wellness programming and related content across multiple media platforms. The announcement was made late in 2011 by Mr. Chandra, who noted at the time that the establishment of the $250 million fund was yet another step in Zee Groups' strategic five-year plan to further expand Veria Living's presence in the U.S. and beyond as the go-to-source for all things health and wellness.
Veria Living, utilizing the fund, launched Veria Living Studios in midtown Manhattan along with a post production facility last April to produce new, original programming for the network's various dayparts.
