ITV Studios Global Entertainment at Brand Licensing Europe
Cut the Rope, Matt Hatter Chronicles, Babar and Classic Thunderbirds:
big brands getting even bigger at stand D040

(Virtual Press Office) -- ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) will be bringing its strong and growing line-up of wholly owned brands and third party representations to BLE 2013 on stand D040. Highlights include the phenomenal growth of Cut the Rope, news for Matt Hatter Chronicles, the 80th anniversary celebrations for Babar and major plans for Thunderbirds — both the Classic brand and the 2015 reinvention of the hit show.

ZeptoLab’s® game-inspired brand Cut the Rope® is gaining momentum throughout Europe. Awareness of the brand and its candy-eating star OmNom® has been boosted not just by multiple versions and levels of the hit game but by animated short films, newspaper competitions, in-app advertising and consumer promotions involving major broadcasters, newspapers and stores. ITVS GE manages the European licensing campaign for the brand and has now signed up more than 45 licensees in the region. Further impetus has come from the brand’s growing success in the European retail market and in particular the very popular new toy range from leading toy designer and manufacturer Vivid Imaginations. A fast-growing number of European sub-agents appointed by ITVS GE are supporting the ongoing retail and licensing programme.

The hit ITV and CiTV show Matt Hatter Chronicles heads into BLE with the news that Platinum Films has appointed the Simba Dickie Group as master toy licensee across EMEA, CEE, Russia and India. ITVS GE represents licensing and merchandising rights for the property in UK and Eire, and recently welcomed Smith and Brooks for boys’ apparel in the UK, as the latest signing in a fast-growing UK licensing programme for the boys’ action-adventure brand. A new third series of Matt Hatter Chronicles will air on CiTV in 2014, with the show also airing in over 80 countries worldwide and gaining high ratings in territories including the UK, Portugal, South Africa and Australasia. The success of the series on air has been supported by smart digital content from producer Platinum Films such as games, apps, online competitions, social media campaigns and the multi-million-hit website

2013 sees classic publishing favourite Babar celebrate his 80th birthday in the UK. ITVS GE is coordinating a raft of celebrations and re-launching a licensing programme reflecting Babar’s ‘Vintage’ heritage. As well as licensing activity, retail partnerships focusing on the 80th anniversary celebration, a birthday party and book signings are planned!

ITVS GE will have two celebrations on the way for one of its best-loved series: the 50th anniversary of the iconic Classic Thunderbirds brand, and the arrival of the all-new Thunderbirds Are Go!, a major new children’s television series co-produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures and set to air in 2015. ITVS GE has appointed Vivid as the master toy partner in Europe, Australia and New Zealand for Thunderbirds are Go! Meanwhile the Classic Thunderbirds licensing programme is gaining even greater momentum among its target markets of core fans and young geek style leaders attracted by the iconic yet very modern series. UK licensees for Classic Thunderbirds already cover apparel, gifts and novelties, trading cards and collectible figures, dress-up, pinball machines, stationery and publishing.
