Samsung Unveils New Component Solutions
for ‘Smart Mobility’ at Mobile World Congress 2012

BARCELONA, Spain- February 27, 2012- (Virtual Press Office) – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, today showcased industry leading technologies for mobile applications at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Enhancing Smart Mobility with brand new solutions, Samsung re-affirms its expertise through a number of exciting product demonstrations.

Presenting at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012, Samsung revealed its next generation of mobile innovations for simple, speedy and multi-functional applications to meet the ever-increasing demands of a new era of business environments.

“We are pleased to showcase our wide range of products, which emphasize our focus on smart mobility and are set to drive next-generation applications of the mobile market”, said Yunshik Kim, president of Samsung Semiconductor Europe. “From state-of-the-art application processor Exynos, Samsung’s most advanced smartcard chip solutions, high-quality image sensors, and the most advanced mobile memory technologies, we aim to embrace future design development and product performance to meet the needs of leading mobile designers for advanced mobile component solutions.”

Last year at MWC, Samsung introduced Exynos, its low-power dual-core application processor and throughout 2011, Samsung has continued to expand its product portfolio to provide a high-quality user-experience and support the energy-efficiency requirements of smartphones and tablet devices. At the Mobile World Congress 2012,Samsung presents its industry-leading application processor technology, demonstrating iconic performance and low-power features of its advanced Exynos platform.

Samsung also showcases its latest smartcard technology, with particular focus on the industry-first contactless solution fully compliant with the Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) specification. Highlighted among Samsung’s Finance, Security & ID (FSID) product lineup, the new solution perfectly illustrates the excellent interoperability of OSPT, as the first commercial alternative to existing proprietary solutions for the transportation market. In addition, Samsung showcases its CMOS image sensors, which deliver superior low-light sensitivity, satisfying the high-quality imaging requirements of mobile and consumer devices including notebooks and gaming products. With ultimate performance and high-resolution, Samsung’s CMOS image sensors offer users clear and vivid images, and the slim measurement supports set designers’ requirements to deliver ultra slim designs.

As the leader in the memory industry, Samsung showcases its differentiated mobile memory products, which provide the highest performance, largest density and lowest power levels for leading-edge mobile applications. The new 64-gigabyte (GB) embedded multimedia card (e-MMC) based on 20nm-class NAND flash memory and 30nm-class LPDDR2 (low power double-data-rate 2) DRAM offer the most energy-efficient green memory solution with the highest performance and lowest power consumption currently available in the market. These two chips also combine to create a space-saving embedded multi-chip package (eMCP) memory solution, to suit the tight form-factor requirements of advanced mobile devices.
