Mainstream Energy Shines at Intersolar North America with AEE Solar and SnapNrack

Company to provide executive perspective on net metering

SAN FRANCISCO, July 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mainstream Energy Corporation – one of the oldest, largest and most experienced solar energy companies in the country – and two of its subsidiaries, AEE Solar and SnapNrack, are excited to announce their participation in Intersolar North America's exhibition and speaking program. Intersolar, one of the largest solar industry conferences worldwide, takes place July 9-12 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif. and will host close to 900 exhibitors, attract more than 23,000 attendees and feature 200 speakers.

Mainstream Energy's Director of Government Affairs Ben Higgins, will speak on the "History, Background and the State of Net Metering in 2012" panel. Among other issues, Higgins can discuss the ongoing debate regarding this foundational solar policy, the California Public Utilities Commission's recent decision to expand net-metering capacity under current law, and what solar's opponents are doing in key solar states to undermine net metering policies. Utilities and others are increasingly framing net metering as an unsustainable 'subsidy,' while solar advocates argue that that changes to existing net metering policies will halt solar's considerable progress in achieving economies of scale, reducing cost, and creating jobs.

Higgins will be discussing the issue alongside Michelle Kinman, Clean Energy Advocate at Environment California; Clyde Murley, Principal at Murley Consulting; Lisa Schwartz, Senior Associate at Regulatory Assistance Project; Steven Weissman from the UC Berkeley Center for Law, Energy & Environment.
