DSC LABS INTRODUCES CAMALIGN® SINEZONE (SZ) TEST CHART AT IBC 2012
New test chart for evaluating performance of digital cameras and lenses.
Toronto, Canada – August 23rd, 2012 – (Virtual Press Office) - DSC Labs, an eco-friendly developer of innovative products for image control, is pleased to announce a new test chart for evaluating digital camera performance, and camera/lens combinations. Designed for producers, DPs, technical directors and others interested in optimizing image quality, SineZone is used to make objective comparisons between camera/lens systems including moiré/aliasing and resolution performance. “We believe that the SineZone is an important test tool for individuals making important camera purchase and rental decisions,” comments DSC’s President David Corley.

The SIneZone chart features a center sinusoidal zone plate, and four corner quarter-sinusoidal zone plates. While zone plates are useful for seeing distortion and resolution at an infinite number of angles, sinusoidal zone plates are invaluable for evaluating lenses. The SineZone chart offers two methods for camera/lens assessment. First, it allows users to quickly and easily identify chroma moiré, readily visible as false colours, and aliasing, also visible as non-concentric circles. Second, SineZone allows its users to measure a video camera’s limiting resolution. The SineZone chart is designed to be challenging for digital cameras to reproduce without artifacts, and helps users accurately assess the relative performance of different camera and lens combinations.
