HomePlug® Alliance Showcases Latest Developments in HomePlug Technologies at ShowStoppers 2012 at IFA
Berlin, Germany – August 30, 2012
(Virtual Press Office
) – The HomePlug® Alliance (http://www.homeplug.org
), the worldwide industry group for powerline communications networking, is presenting at the ShowStoppers press event during IFA in Berlin today, partnering with devolo AG, a leading manufacturer of HomePlug products. HomePlug and devolo will be displaying and demonstrating a variety of new HomePlug products and applications for delivering an enhanced connected home experience.
HomePlug networking products have been chosen by millions of consumers worldwide as a simple way to connect devices to the Internet and each other, even at the farthest reaches of the home. Major telecom operators have selected HomePlug technology as a preferred way to deliver multi-room IPTV and other premium services to consumer devices.
“HomePlug offers a true plug-and-play experience for consumers,” said Rob Ranck, president of the HomePlug Alliance. “Simply plug a HomePlug adapter into the electrical outlet near your Internet router and a HomePlug adapter into an electrical outlet near your smart TV, set-top-box or game console far from your router, and the result is a high-speed Ethernet connection.”
High-speed wired connections improve the consumer experience for applications such as streaming Internet video and online gaming with low-latency. In addition to proving a wired “backbone” for fixed networked devices such as Blue-ray and media players, game consoles, VoIP phones, PCs and other devices, several new HomePlug products integrate with Wi-Fi to provide whole home wireless connectivity for mobile devices as well.
Whether consumers are looking for a simple-to-connect, high speed wired network or an effective way to eliminate wireless dead-spots in the home, HomePlug Alliance and its 60 member companies deliver with a wide variety of HomePlug products on retail shelves.
