Proficient Introduces Home Theater Loudspeakers

CEDIA Expo, Indianapolis, Indiana – September 5, 2012 (Virtual Press Office) – Today Proficient introduced three new loudspeaker systems designed to enhance the performance of home theaters.

First among the new models is the GS2.1 speaker system. The GS2.1 package includes a 6½” powered subwoofer and two 3½” satellites. A stereo amplifier that is built into the woofer cabinet powers the satellites. The next addition to the line is GS6 is a 6½” powered subwoofer. Rounding out the new offerings is the GSB3 Sound Bar, engineered to provide quality sound for flat panel TVs. The GSB3 can be used with the GS6 sub to augment 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 surround systems.

GS2.1 Sub/Sat System
As its name implies the GS2.1 is a 2.1 three-piece system, with a pair of compact satellite speakers being matched to a powered subwoofer. Each satellite is a 3½” two-way bookshelf speaker with 1-inch tweeter. Drivers and crossover networks were carefully engineered to blend perfectly allowing the satellites to create a natural sound quality, especially in the critical midrange frequencies. Bosses are provided to accept wall mount brackets from many of the popular brands.

The included subwoofer features a 6½” IMG driver in a MDF cabinet wrapped in black vinyl. In addition to the 30-watt woofer amplifier, the sub houses a 10 watt x 2 channel amp for the satellites. A main volume control for both the subwoofer and satellite outputs is controlled by a “Master Volume” knob. Subwoofer level (relative to the satellites) is controlled by a separate “Sub Volume” control. This allows for desired balancing of output levels between the subwoofer level and level of the satellite speakers to match with listening preference and room size.

An auto on/off sensing circuit reduces power consumption after 5 minutes of no signal making it environmentally conscious. The same circuit powers up the amplifiers silently when signal is detected. The amplifier uses sophisticated limiter/compressor circuitry to protect the system. A multi-color LED display provides system status information. The GS2.1 subwoofer will accept either 115V or 230V line voltage.

The GS2.1 ships in Q4 2012 with an MSRP of $600.

GS6 6½” Powered Subwoofer
The GS6 is similar to the subwoofer in the GS2.1 system, except that the satellite amplifiers and master volume control are not included. All other features - including the sophisticated limiter/compressor, auto on/off sensing, status indication and multi-voltage capability – are included in the GS6.

The GS6 ships in Q4 2012 with an MSRP of $300.

GSB3 Sound Bar
The GSB3 uses six 3½” graphite woofers and three 1” silk dome tweeters in a single enclosure, and is ideal as an LCR soundbar. When augmented with a GS6 subwoofer the combination creates a full range 3.1 system. The GSB3 can also be used in 5.1 or 7.1 home theater systems.

Connections are handled by inset ABS plastic terminal cup that contains threaded gold plated metal 5-way binding post that will accept up to 10 AWG wire. Included mounting provisions include two brackets that are attached to the back panel of the enclosure. These interlock with similar brackets that mount to the wall. This design minimizes the travel required to connect the brackets and reduces the gap between the TV and the GBS3 speaker. A locking tab prevents the speaker from sliding off the wall mount bracket once aligned.

The soundbar dimensions are 36” Wide x 6” High and only 4-1/8” Deep. The cabinet is wrapped with black vinyl.

The GSB3 ships in Q1 2013 with an MSRP of $625.
