International TV Veteran will join Company at MIPCOM and
Oversee all Global Sales Initiatives for Company;
Formerly Worked for Walt Disney Television, 20th Century Fox and Rede TV Network
NORWALK, CT, SEPTEMBER 19, 2012 — (Virtual Press Office) — CABLEready (Stand #R31.17), the international television program distribution and development company, has named Maurizio Tavares to the newly created position of vice president, global sales manager. He will join the company at MIPCOM and will report directly to CABLEready President and CEO, Gary Lico, who made today's announcement. Mr. Tavares will be responsible for overseeing the company's international sales strategy and initiatives along with leading and advising the CABLEready sales staff.
"Maurizio's extensive career and success in the international program sales arena makes him the perfect candidate to provide our sales team with an additional edge in this increasingly competitive global industry," stated Mr. Lico. He added, "His experience in both production and acquisitions provides him with a unique perspective that significantly benefits his role in program sales. Prior to joining CABLEready, Mr. Tavares served as the director of sales, acquisitions and new content development for Rede TV Network in Brazil. He was responsible for acquiring animated, drama and comedy series, as well as international and local reality formats. In addition, he handled all the sales of Rede TV formats and programs, provided support to the advertising sales department, analyzed ratings and the network's daily television schedule.
Before his stint with Rede he served as an international formats sales and acquisitions executive at Fox Television Studios. Mr. Tavares supported 20th Century Fox's international TV distribution sales team in creating licensing opportunities, pitching formats such as Temptation Island, Crowned, and Beauty and the Geek to major international broadcasters and production companies. He also evaluated unscripted formats from U.S. producers for potential international market adaption and acquired scripted and non-scripted television formats globally for Fox.
Earlier in his career he worked for Walt Disney Television International. He rose to senior country manager of the Disney Channel Brazil and also had held executive positions for the company in Italy (Buena Vista Productions) and Florida (Walt Disney Television International).
