London, 27 September 2012, (Virtual Press Office): Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has pre-sold its new drama, Last Resort, to more than 100 countries ahead of the show's US and global premiere on ABC tonight and its international distribution at MIPCOM in Cannes next month.
Buyers across Europe and Asia have snapped up the much anticipated drama, with latest territories confirmed including Germany (Prosieben), Austria (ORF), Italy (FOX), Spain (Mediaset), Turkey (Digiturk), Czech Republic (NOVA) and Belgium (Telenet). In Asia, pan-regional broadcaster AXN Asia, will air the series across 20 territories including India, China, Hong Kong and across South East Asia, while Canadian rights were acquired earlier this year by Shaw Global.

Last Resort follows the crew members of a US nuclear submarine who, after questioning a suspicious order to fire nuclear missiles, become fugitives from their own country. The crew land on a remote island in the South Pacific, where they commandeer a NATO Listening Station and declare themselves the world's newest nuclear-armed nation. Now it's a race against the clock to uncover the truth while dealing with global geo politics as well as growing unrest among the crew and island locals.
Last Resort is a Middkid Production in association with Sony Pictures Television, which is also the international distributor. The show is executive produced by Shawn Ryan (The Shield, Terriers), Karl Gajdusek (Dead like Me) and Marney Hochman (Terriers, The Chicago Code). Lead cast include Andre Braugher as Capt. Marcus Chaplin (Men of a Certain Age, Thief), Scott Speedman as XO Sam Kendal (Underworld, Felicity), Daisy Betts as Lt. Grace Shepard (Person Unknown, Harry's Law), Dichen Lachman as Tani Tumrenjack (Dollhouse, Being Human), Daniel Lissing as Seal Officer James King (Crownies, Home and Away) and Autumn Reeser as Kylie Sinclair (Entourage, The O.C.).
