New International Television Distribution and Production Venture Set to Launch at MIPCOM with major U.S. Network Drama Series
Los Angeles, September 27, 2012 – (Virtual Press Office) -- Creating a new distribution and production venture for the global television arena, Sierra/Affinity and Engine Entertainment today announced their partnering in Sierra/Engine Television. Sierra's expansion into television will be headed by Engine CEO Chris Philip, a veteran in both the studio and independent TV and film arenas. The new venture debuting at this year's MIPCOM combines Sierra/Affinity's international film sales and distribution capabilities with Engine's strength as a leading distributor of television programming designed for a global audience. Sierra/Engine Television will arrive at MIPCOM with new projects including Georgeville Television's "Crossbones," a 10 episode order for NBC, from "Luther" creator Neil Cross and producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald; and "Hunters" (aka "Epidemic"), a 13 episode order for ABC, from J. Michael Straczynski and Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment. The announcement was made by Sierra/Affinity's Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg, and Engine Chief Executive Chris Phillip.
Sierra/Affinity recently expanded its core business to include not only the development, production, financing and international sales of filmed entertainment, but also global television distribution by partnering with Georgeville Television, run by CEO Marc Rosen. Sierra/Engine will produce and distribute its own content as well as represent that of third party providers, including Georgeville Television which is behind "Crossbones" (NBC), "Hunters" (ABC), and "Blake's Seven" (SyFy).
Sierra's Nick Meyer stated: "Chris' experience in studio television distribution and in the independent financing and packaging of programming is a perfect fit for our expansion into television. Partnering with Chris and Engine accelerates our movement into this space and we are looking to continue to work with great creative partners in television as we have done in film."
Engine's Chris Philip added: "Nick and Marc have created something special in filmed entertainment, and with their financial strength, and appetite for TV, we are ready to offer our global clients a raft of new high quality programming and taking 3 new US network series to MIPCOM is an outstanding way to launch.
