LOS ANGELES, CA (October 5, 2012) – (Virtual Press Office) – Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution will present buyers with a dynamic programming lineup at this year's MIPCOM. An exciting slate, featuring several brand-new dramas and comedies will be introduced, offering broadcasters a wide range of choices to fulfill their programming needs.
Following are series highlights from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution's extensive product library of programming available at MIPCOM 2012:
The Cold War and the United States' relationship with the Soviet Union during the 1980s serves as the backdrop for The Americans, the highly-anticipated period drama starring Golden Globe® Award-winning actress Keri Russell (Felicity), Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters) and Noah Emmerich (Miracle, Warrior). The series delves into the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President.
Created by Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies, Damages) The Americans centers on the arranged marriage of Phillip (Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Russell), who have two children who know nothing about their parents' true identity. Their relationship grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. Complicating their relationship further is Phillip's growing sense of affinity for America's values and way of life. Tensions also heighten upon the arrival of a new neighbor, Stan (Emmerich), an FBI agent working in counter intelligence.
The Americans is co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions and DreamWorks Television. The series is executive produced by Weisberg, who is also showrunner. Graham Yost (Justified, Boomtown), Darryl Frank (Falling Skies, Smash) and Justin Falvey (Falling Skies, The Borgias) are also executive producers.
In the U.S., The Americans is scheduled for premiere in early 2013 on FX Network.
From Jeff Eastin, the creator of the critically-acclaimed police procedural White Collar, comes Graceland, the ensemble drama that follows a diverse group of FBI, DEA and U.S. Customs agents who are obligated to live together, undercover in a beach house in Southern California.
Newly minted FBI agent Mike Warren (Aaron Tveit, Gossip Girl, Les Miserables) is all set to take up a prestigious posting in Washington, D.C. when he discovers he's being reassigned to Graceland – a prime piece of beachfront real estate that was seized from drug lords and now serves as an undercover residence for agents who work for various branches of law enforcement.
Mike and his new roommates must all work to solve cases for their respective agencies while also keeping the peace in their own household. Joining him is Senior FBI agent Paul Briggs (Daniel Sunjata, Rescue Me), who has a legendary past but decides to trade his suit and tie for a more zen existence; Catherine "Charlie" Lopez (Vanessa Ferlito, CSI:NY), a strong-willed DEA agent; Dale Jakes (Brandon Jay McLaren, The Killing), a quick-tempered U.S. Customs agent; Joe "Johnny" Tuturro (Manny Montana, The Chicago Code), an FBI agent who is the fun-loving prankster of the house; Lauren Kincaid (Scottie Thompson, Trauma, NCIS), a loyal and determined DEA agent who is dealing with the repercussions of her wounded partner; Sam Campbell (Courtney B. Vance, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Revenge), as Quantico Section Chief special agent; and Gerry Silvo (Jay Karnes, Burn Notice, The Shield) as DEA group supervisor.
Graceland is produced by Fox Television Studios. The series is executive produced by Eastin.
In the U.S., Graceland is scheduled to premiere on USA Network in the 2012-2013 television season.
The dream of becoming parents may finally be coming true for Bryan and David, a successful Beverly Hills couple anxious to become dads on The New Normal, the hilarious new comedy from Emmy® Award-winning producer Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Glee, Nip/Tuck).
These days, families come in all forms. Bryan (Andrew Rannells, Girls, The Book of Mormon) and David (Justin Bartha, The Hangover) comprise a couple who has it all. Well, almost. With successful careers and a committed, loving partnership, there is one thing that this pair is missing: a baby. And just when they think the stars will never align, enter Goldie (Georgia King, One Day), an extraordinary young woman with a checkered past. A Midwestern waitress and single mother looking to escape her dead-end life and small-minded grandmother (Emmy® and Tony® Award-winner Ellen Barkin, Sea of Love), Goldie decides to change everything and move to L.A. with her precocious eight-year-old daughter, Shania (Bebe Wood, 30 Rock).
Desperate and broke – but also fertile – Goldie quickly becomes the guys' surrogate and quite possibly the girl of their dreams. Surrogate mother, surrogate family.
The New Normal is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and Ryan Murphy Productions. The series is executive produced by Murphy, Allison Adler (Glee, No Ordinary Family) and Dante Di Loreto (Glee, American Horror Story).
In the U.S., The New Normal is scheduled to premiere on NBC, Tuesday, September 11 at 9:30 pm.
Ben and Kate is the new ensemble comedy that follows a pair of odd-couple siblings and their friends as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into real life.
Kate Fox (Dakota Johnson, 21 Jump Street, The Five Year Engagement) followed the rules all her life…until she got pregnant and dropped out of college. After the birth of her daughter Maddie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones, We Bought a Zoo), Kate put her personal life on hold. She now works as a bar manager to make ends meet and she's uber-prepared for every possible catastrophe, except the arrival of her older brother, Ben Fox (Nat Faxon Bad Teacher, Academy Award-winning co-screenwriter of The Descendants) an exuberant dreamer with an infectious energy. Whereas Kate is all about planning and preparing, Ben is the opposite, big on spontaneity and outrageous, out-of-the-box ideas.
When Ben comes to crash on Kate's couch for a few days, he finds a sad state of affairs. For the first time in their lives, Kate needs Ben's help, and he's determined to bring some much-needed chaos into her overly stable world. Always there to help with Ben's crazy schemes is his partner in crime, Tommy (Echo Kellum, Bad Teacher), who worships Ben like a hero and nurses a serious crush on Kate. Kate's British best friend, BJ (Lucy Punch) is a cocktail waitress at the bar and an all-around hot mess who would do anything for Kate, even if it's questionable or illegal.
Ben and Kate is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment. The series is written, created and executive produced by Dana Fox (New Girl, What Happens in Vegas). Peter Chernin (New Girl, Touch), Katherine Pope (New Girl, Touch), Jake Kasdan (New Girl, Freaks and Geeks), Neil Goldman (Community) and Garrett Donovan (Community) are also executive producers.
In the U.S., Ben and Kate is scheduled to premiere on Fox, Tuesday, September 25 at 8:30 pm.
